Abstract
The present invention generally relates to a baling press for baling cotton gin trash and other particulate biomass feedstock. The baling press generally comprises an infeed chute assembly, a compression ram assembly, an extrusion chamber assembly, a strapping storage and dispensing assembly, and a strapping insertion assembly. The present invention also relates to methods of producing a bale with the baling press and a bale generated by said baling press and described methods.
Claims9
An apparatus for cutting strapping material used to bind a bale of biomass feedstock or cotton gin trash comprising:
- a plurality of integral blades designed for cutting the strapping material mounted to a baling press wherein said blades comprise a sharpened edge for precise cutting of said strapping material;
- wherein said integral blades are mounted to a vertical support by mounting bracket comprising a vertical blade housing and a lateral extension;
- wherein said vertical blade housing positions the blades such that the sharpened edge points toward a rear portion of said baling press;
- and
- wherein said vertical support is mounted directly to said baling press.
A method of forming a bale of biomass feedstock or cotton gin trash bound with strapping material comprising the steps of:
- storing and dispensing said strapping material from a first side of a baling press;
- inserting said strapping material from the first side of a baling press in the form of a loop at a leading and trailing end of a bale;
- extending and cutting said strapping material loop from a second side of a baling press to a proper length generating two strapping ends for use to bind bales;
- and
- securing the strapping material ends together from leading end and trailing end cuts proximate a bale exit end of the baling press.
