Abstract
A control unit performs first control for outputting a second signal based on a first signal in a case where a cycle of the first signal is within a predetermined cycle, and performs second control for outputting a second signal based on a predicted cycle of the first signal in a case where the cycle of the first signal is out of the predetermined cycle.
Claims14
An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a light source;
- a rotational polygon mirror configured to deflect light output from the light source while being rotationally driven, the rotational polygon mirror including a plurality of reflection surfaces;
- a driving unit configured to drive the rotational polygon mirror;
- a detection unit configured to output a first signal based on detection of light deflected by the rotational polygon mirror;
- and
- a control unit configured to output a second signal that is a synchronization signal for controlling start of writing in a main scanning direction, based on the first signal,
- wherein the control unit performs first control for outputting the second signal based on the first signal in a case where a cycle of the first signal is within a predetermined cycle, and performs second control for outputting the second signal based on a predicted cycle of the first signal in a case where the cycle of the first signal is out of the predetermined cycle.
