Motor and stator crush resistance device

An electric motor comprising:

• a first housing body;
• a second housing body that cooperates with the first housing body to define a motor cavity;
• a rotor supported within the motor cavity for rotation about an axis;
• a stator disposed about the rotor within the motor cavity, the stator including a stator core having a first end;
• and
• a stator positioning device including:
• an annular contact ring that is coaxial with the axis and has a first side and a second side, the first side being in contact with the first end of the stator core;
• an annular cover ring that is coaxial with the axis and coupled to the second side of the contact ring, the cover ring including a cover flange that extends radially outward of the contact ring and is disposed axially between the first and second housing bodies to inhibit axial movement of the cover ring;
• and
• at least one spring disposed axially between the contact ring and the cover ring and configured to bias the contact ring toward the stator core.
