Abstract
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system is provided. The UPS system includes a plurality of UPSs, a ring bus coupled to the UPSs, a plurality of chokes, and at least one static switch coupled between an associated UPS of the UPSs and the ring bus. Each choke electrically couples an associated UPS to the ring bus. The static switch is switchable to selectively bypass at least one choke.
Claims20
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system comprising:
- a plurality of UPSs;
- a ring bus coupled to said plurality of UPSs;
- a plurality of chokes, each choke of said plurality of chokes electrically coupling a respective UPS of said plurality of UPSs to said ring bus;
- and
- at least one static switch coupled between an associated UPS of said plurality of UPSs and said ring bus, said at least one static switch switchable to selectively bypass at least one choke of said plurality of chokes.
A power system comprising:
- a plurality of inverters that generate a power output;
- a plurality of chokes electrically coupling said plurality of inverters together;
- and
- a static switch coupled between an associated inverter of said plurality of inverters and other inverters of said plurality of inverters, said static switch switchable to selectively bypass at least one choke of said plurality of chokes.
The power system in accordance with claim 12 further comprising a plurality of uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) including said plurality of inverters.
A method for providing an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), said method comprising:
- electrically coupling a plurality of UPSs together using a ring bus, wherein a choke is coupled between each UPS of the plurality of UPSs and the ring bus;
- coupling a static switch between an associated UPS of the plurality of UPSs and the ring bus, the static switch parallel to a respective choke;
- and
- selectively bypassing, with the static switch, the respective choke when a fault condition is detected at the associated UPS.
The method in accordance with claim 19, wherein selectively bypassing further comprises:
- monitoring, by a controller, a current associated with the associated UPS
- identifying the fault condition based at least partially on the monitored current;
- and
- closing, by the controller, the static switch to bypass the respective choke when the fault condition is identified.
