Automatic Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Evacuation Power Switch Method and System

An automatic smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas detection method comprising:

• detecting, by a smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor, presence of smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas exceeding a predetermined level and automatically generating a trigger signal;
• generating, by a microprocessor, a shutoff signal in response to receiving the trigger signal from the smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor;
• and
• automatically disconnecting at least one appliance from an electrical power source in response to receiving the shutoff signal from the microprocessor.

An automatic smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas detection system for a vehicle with a combustible engine comprising:

• a smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor configured to detect presence of smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas exceeding a predetermined level and automatically generate a trigger signal;
• a microprocessor coupled to the smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor configured to generate an alert signal in response to receiving the trigger signal from the smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor;
• and
• a housing integrating the smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor and microprocessor, the housing being configured for connecting to a D-shaped 16-pin on-board diagnostic (OBD) port of the vehicle.

An automatic smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas detection method for a vehicle with a combustible engine comprising:

• detecting, by a smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas sensor, presence of smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas exceeding a predetermined level and automatically generating a trigger signal;
• generating and issuing at least one of an audio signal and a visual signal in response to receiving the trigger signal;
• and
• wherein detecting the smoke/carbon monoxide/hazardous gas comprises housing the sensor in a connector configured to connect to a D-shaped 16-pin on-board diagnostic (OBD) port of the vehicle.
