Information processing system

An information processing system that functions as a system including a cash register terminal, the information processing system comprising:

• an image acquiring unit configured to acquire a plurality of captured images, the captured images being obtained as a result of imaging one or more objects placed in a predetermined area from a plurality of directions, as a captured object image;
• an object recognizing unit configured to recognize the one or more objects, based on the captured object image acquired;
• a product specifying unit configured to specify a product, to which each of the one or more objects whose presence is recognized belongs, based on the captured object image;
• and
• a managing unit configured to manage and store the captured object image in a predetermined database.

An information processing method executed by an information processing system that functions as a system including a cash register terminal, the method comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a plurality of captured images, the captured images being obtained as a result of imaging one or more objects placed in a predetermined area from a plurality of directions, as a captured object image;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing the one or more objects, based on the captured object image acquired;
• a product specifying step of specifying a product, to which each of the one or more objects whose presence is recognized belongs, based on the captured object image acquired;
• and
• a managing step of managing and storing the captured object image in a predetermined database.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a program causing a computer to execute control processing, the computer controlling an information processing system that functions as a system including a cash register terminal, the control processing comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a plurality of captured images, the captured images being obtained as a result of imaging one or more objects placed in a predetermined area from a plurality of directions, as a captured object image;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing the one or more objects, based on the captured object image acquired;
• a product specifying step of specifying a product, to which each of the one or more objects whose presence is recognized belongs, based on the captured object image;
• and
• a managing step of managing and storing the captured object image in a predetermined database.

An information processing system comprising:

• an image acquiring unit configured to acquire a captured image obtained as a result of imaging an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing unit configured to recognize presence of the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding unit configured to hold product information;
• and
• a product specifying unit configured to attempt to specify a product, to which the object recognized belongs, by at least using a predetermined image processing technique;
• in the case of failing to specify the product, the product specifying unit outputs a result thereof as a product unspecified.

An information processing method executed by an information processing system that functions as a system including a cash register terminal, the method comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a captured image obtained as a result of imaging an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding step of holding product information;
• and
• a product specifying step of attempting to specify a product by at least using a predetermined image processing technique, and in the case of failing to specify the product, outputting a result thereof as a product unspecified.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a program causing a computer to execute control processing, the computer controlling an information processing system, the control processing comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a captured image obtained as a result of capturing an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing presence of the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding step of holding product information;
• and
• a product specifying step of attempting to specify a product by at least using a predetermined image processing technique, and in the case of failing to specify the product, outputting a result thereof as a product unspecified.

An information processing system comprising:

• an image acquiring unit configured to acquire a captured image obtained as a result of capturing an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing unit configured to recognize presence of the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding unit configured to hold product information;
• and
• a product specifying unit configured to specify a product, wherein, for the object whose presence is recognized, the product specifying unit generates a first product candidate list by using a predetermined image processing technique, and generates a second product candidate list by using an algorithm different from the predetermined image processing technique, and specifies a product based on the first product candidate list and the second product candidate list.

The information processing system according to claim 39, wherein the selling-restricted product is any one of:

• products that are not allowed to be purchased by people under a certain age;
• expired/out-of-date products;
• products that are prohibited to be taken due to physical constitution since allergic ingredients are included;
• and religious restricted product.

An information processing method executed by an information processing system that functions as a system including a cash register terminal, the method comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a captured image obtained as a result of imaging an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding step of holding product information;
• and
• a product specifying step of, for the object whose presence is recognized, generating a first product candidate list by using a predetermined image processing technique, and generating a second product candidate list by using an algorithm different from the predetermined image processing technique, and specifying a product based on the first product candidate list and the second product candidate list.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a program causing a computer to execute control processing, the computer controlling an information processing system, the control processing comprising:

• an image acquiring step of acquiring a captured image obtained as a result of imaging an object placed in a predetermined area;
• an object recognizing step of recognizing the object, based on the captured image acquired;
• a product information holding step of holding product information;
• and
• a product specifying step of, for the object whose presence is recognized, generating a first product candidate list by using a predetermined image processing technique, and generating a second product candidate list by using an algorithm different from the predetermined image processing technique, and specifying a product based on the first product candidate list and the second product candidate list.

An information processing system comprising:

• an image acquiring unit configured to acquire a captured image obtained as a result of capturing a predetermined area where an object is to be placed;
• an object recognizing unit configured to recognize presence of the object in the predetermined area, based on the captured image acquired;
• and
• a lighting unit configured to illuminate the object such that a shadow of the object does not occur or is reduced in the captured image.
