Abstract
Methods and apparatus relating to techniques for processor core energy management are described. In an embodiment, energy management logic causes a modification to energy consumption by an electrical load (such as a processor core) based at least in part on comparison of an electrical current value and an operating current threshold value. The electrical current value is detected at an electrical current sensor coupled to the electrical load. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.
Claims14
An apparatus comprising:
- energy management logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware, to cause a modification to energy consumption by an electrical load based at least in part on comparison of an electrical current value and an operating current threshold value,
- wherein the electrical current value is to be detected at an electrical current sensor coupled to the electrical load, wherein the energy management logic is to comprise one or more components from at least two different clock domains, wherein a fast jump phase locked loop circuit, coupled to the energy management logic, is to operate in a transient state to generate a new frequency ratio signal, wherein selection logic is to select between the a first frequency value, corresponding to the new frequency ratio signal, and a second frequency value, corresponding to a current frequency ratio value, for a supplied frequency to the electrical load, wherein the selection logic is to select between the first frequency value and the second frequency value based on a transient signal that indicates whether the fast jump phase locked loop circuit is in the transient state.
