Abstract
A battlefield illumination module having a light source for a handgun, a handgun with an appropriate battlefield illumination module and a holster for accommodating an appropriate handgun, wherein the light source includes a primary light source which is designed to be extendable from a rest position to a working position.

A holster for accommodating a handgun comprising:
- a cavity configured for receiving a barrel of a handgun and an illumination module attached in an area of the barrel of the handgun, the illumination module having a light source positioned in a rest position configured such that the illumination module has a low profile to fit in the holster;
- an electrical contact, fixed to the cavity, having a positive terminal and a negative terminal configured for conducting a charging current to the illumination module of the handgun.
A handgun illumination system comprising:
- an illumination module configured for mechanically linking to a handgun in an area below a barrel of the handgun;
- and
- a holster having:
- a cavity configured for accepting the illumination module;
- an electrical contact fixed to the cavity for conducting a charging current to the illumination module;
- an energy source for supplying the charging current to the illumination module using the electrical contact.

- an electrical contact having a positive terminal and a negative terminal for conducting a charging current from an energy source contained within the holster to a current receiver of the illumination module;
