Abstract
The present invention is directed to materials and method of encapsulating chemical agents. In particular, the present invention is directed to compositions and methods of encapsulating a water chlorinating agent in a water soluble polymer encapsulant.

A composition, comprising:
- a water-soluble polymeric encapsulant;
- and
- a water chlorinating agent encapsulated in the water soluble polymer encapsulant.
A method, comprising:
- providing a composition, comprising:
- a water-soluble polymeric encapsulant;
- and
- a water chlorinating agent encapsulated in the water soluble polymer encapsulant;
- and
- chlorinating a portion of water by contacting the composition to the portion of water effective to cause at least partial dissolution of the water-soluble polymeric encapsulant effective to release the encapsulated water chlorinating agent to the portion of water.

- encapsulating the water chlorinating agent in the water soluble polymer encapsulant.
