Substituted 1-hydroxy-pyridin-2(1h)-ones, and methods of making and using same

A compound, or a salt, solvate, geometric isomer, stereoisomer, tautomer, or any mixtures thereof, selected from the group consisting of:

• wherein in (A):
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• R3 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• m is 0 or 1;
• R4 is optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl;
• and the compound is not (E/Z)-1,6-Dihydroxy-4-methyl-5-(1-(phenoxyimino)ethyl)pyridin-2(1H)-one;
• and
• wherein in (B):
• R1 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• R2 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• R3 is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkenyl, optionally substituted C2-C6 alkynyl, and optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl;
• m is 0 or 1;
• and
• ring A is optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl.
