Abstract
There is disclosed the use of a composition for promoting neuronal growth of neurons in tissues of the central or peripheral nervous system. There is also disclosed a method for inducing proliferation or differentiation of neuronal cells.

A composition consisting of the following four herbal components:
- i) Radix Polygalae;
- ii) Radix Astragali;
- iii) Rhizoma Chuanxiong;
- and
- iv) Radix Angelicae sinensis,
- wherein each herbal component is present in the composition as an unprocessed or crushed herb or as a purified extract.
