Abstract
Everting balloon systems and methods for using the same are disclosed herein. The systems can be configured to access and dilate body lumen and cavities. For example, the systems can be used to dilate the cervix and access the uterine cavity. The systems can also be used to occlude the cervix. The systems can also be used to occlude the urethra.
Claims21
A system for biopsying matter from a reproductive tract of a female comprising:
- a first catheter having a lumen and a distal lumen port, wherein the first catheter has a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- an everting balloon attached to the first catheter, wherein at least a length of the everting balloon extends past a distal end of the first catheter when the first catheter is in the extended configuration;
- a second catheter slidably located in the first catheter;
- a biopsy device, wherein the second catheter is configured to deliver the biopsy device.
1 more element
A method for biopsying matter from a uterine cavity comprising:
- everting a balloon in a cervical canal, wherein the balloon is attached to a first catheter, and wherein everting comprises pulling the first catheter distally through the cervical canal;
- transporting a biopsy device through the first catheter to the uterine cavity;
- occluding the cervical channel with the balloon after the transporting of the biopsy device to the uterine cavity, wherein the occluding comprises occluding with the everting balloon.
A system for sampling matter from a reproductive tract of a female comprising:
- a first catheter having a lumen and a distal lumen port, wherein the first catheter has a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- an everting balloon attached to the first catheter, wherein at least a length of the everting balloon extends past a distal end of the first catheter when the first catheter is in the extended configuration;
- a second catheter slidably located in the first catheter;
- a first sampling device, wherein the second catheter is configured to deliver the first sampling device.
