A computer-implemented method for shape deformation, comprising: obtaining an image; obtaining one or more positional constraints; determining a shape deformation/image map, based on the positional constraints; applying the shape deformation to the image; and outputting the image.

A computer-implemented method for interactive shape deformation, the method comprising:
- obtaining an image;
- extracting a shape from the image, the shape having boundary curves;
- obtaining one or more positional constraints;
- determining a shape deformation map, based on the one or more positional constraints;
- applying the shape deformation map to the shape to obtain a deformed shape;
- and
- outputting the deformed shape,
- characterized in that an overall average distortion measure of the shape deformation is minimized along the boundary curves (γi) of the shape.
