Abstract
A method makes a description of a piece of luggage. In order to detect a plurality of features of a piece of luggage, the piece of luggage is detected by a visual detection device, by which an image of the piece of luggage is produced. The visual features of the piece of luggage can be extracted from the image of the piece of luggage, and a description of the piece of luggage can be generated from the extracted visual features of the piece of luggage.

A method for generating a description of a piece of luggage, which comprises the steps of:
- detecting the piece of luggage by a visual detection device and creating an image of the piece of luggage;
- extracting visual features of the piece of luggage from the image of the piece of luggage;
- and
- generating the description of the piece of luggage from the visual features of the piece of luggage extracted from the image.
A luggage description system, comprising:
- a visual detection device;
- and
- a data processing unit programmed to perform a method for generating a description of a piece of luggage, which comprises the steps of:
- detecting the piece of luggage by said visual detection device and creating an image of the piece of luggage;
- extracting visual features of the piece of luggage from the image of the piece of luggage;
- and
- generating the description of the piece of luggage from visual features of the piece of luggage extracted from the image.
