Dry harvesting ice machine

A method for distributing water in an ice grid, comprising:

• generating a flow of water into a grid of recesses configured for ice block formation, said recesses having a base;
• an elastic substrate disposed over said base, configured to elastically contract in thickness;
• and
• a plurality of individual fluid valves in communication with a source of fluid, each being in fluid communication with an individual grid recess and configured to release a flow of fluid between said elastic substrate and said grid base and free an individual ice block from said elastic substrate;
• and
• controlling the rate of water flow by adjusting a tilting angle of the grid.

A method for increasing production rate of ice blocks, comprising:

• distributing liquid onto a grid of recesses configured for ice block formation, said recesses having a base and an elastic substrate disposed over said base, configured to elastically contract in thickness;
• allowing the liquid to freeze partially;
• changing the pressure between the elastic substrate and the grid;
• and
• harvesting the ice block.
