Transmission of wakeup signal through millimeter wave and sub-6 ghz bands

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• receiving, from a base station and while operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, a wakeup message on a second band;
• identifying that data is available to be transmitted on a first band to the UE based on the received wakeup message;
• and
• transmitting, based at least in part on the data being available, a signal to the base station.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a processor;
• memory in electronic communication with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and operable, when executed by the processor, to cause the apparatus to:
• identify that data is available to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE) that is operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode;
• transmit, based at least in part on the data being available, a first wakeup message using a first band supported by the UE;
• and
• transmit, based at least in part on the data being available, a second wakeup message using a second band supported by the UE, the second band being different from the first band.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a processor;
• memory in electronic communication with the processor;
• and
• instructions stored in the memory and operable, when executed by the processor, to cause the apparatus to:
• receive, from a base station and while operating in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, a wakeup message on a second band;
• identify that data is available to be transmitted on a first band to the UE based on the received wakeup message;
• and
• transmit, based at least in part on the data being available, a signal to the base station.
