Methods and devices for supporting release of sipto bearer or lipa bearer in dual-connectivity architecture

A method for supporting a selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO) by a first base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• receiving, from a second base station, a first message indicating a context release of a terminal;
• identifying whether the first message includes information indicating a deactivation of a packet data network (PDN) connection for a SIPTO;
• and
• transmitting, to a network entity, a second message to request a release of the PDN connection based on the information.

A method for supporting a selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO) by a second base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• generating information indicating a deactivation of a packet data network (PDN) connection for a SIPTO;
• and
• transmitting, to a first base station, a first message indicating a context release of a terminal and including the information,
• wherein a second message to request a release of the PDN connection is transmitted by the first base station to a network entity based on the information included in the first message.

A first base station for supporting a selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO) in a wireless communication system, the first base station comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to control to:
• receive, from a second base station, a first message indicating a context release of a terminal,
• identify whether the first message includes information indicating a deactivation of a packet data network (PDN) connection for a SIPTO, and
• transmit, to a network entity, a second message to request a release of the PDN connection based on the information.

A second base station for supporting a selected IP traffic offload (SIPTO) in a wireless communication system, the second base station comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to control to:
• generate information indicating a deactivation of a packet data network (PDN) connection for a SIPTO, and
• transmit, to a first base station, a first message indicating a context release of a terminal and including the information,
• wherein a second message to request a release of the PDN connection is transmitted by the first base station to a network entity based on the information included in the first message.
