Liquid crystal light deflector and holographic display having the liquid crystal light deflector

A holographic display comprising:

• a liquid crystal light deflector comprising:
• a first electrode layer comprising a plurality of line electrodes arranged side by side in a plurality of channels,
• a second electrode layer comprising a common electrode facing the first electrode layer, and
• a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer to form an electrical prism due to rotation of the orientations of the long diameters of liquid crystal molecules according to an electric field between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer;
• and
• a control circuit configured to control a voltage applied to the first electrode layer and a voltage applied to the second electrode layer,
• wherein the orientations of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are reset by an electric field formed between line electrodes of adjacent channels within the first electrode layer, before a diffraction angle of the electrical prism is changed.
