Abstract
A method in a relay station includes communicating with a base station, determining if a control signal is included in a subframe, and decoding data in the subframe if the control signal is included in the subframe. The control signal includes a parameter which is related to a quantity of resource blocks.

A method in a relay node, the method comprising:
- communicating with a base station;
- detecting a relay physical downlink control channel intended for the relay node in a subframe wherein a set of ‘N’ virtual resource blocks (VRBs) are configured for relay physical downlink control channel transmission;
- determining a relay physical control channel assignment, wherein the relay physical control channel comprises at least one VRB numbered with a value based on N;
- and
- decoding a corresponding physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in the same subframe.

A relay node, comprising:
- a controller and a transceiver wherein the controller is operable to:
- control the transceiver to communicate with a base station;
- detect a relay physical downlink control channel intended for the relay node in a subframe wherein a set of ‘N’ virtual resource blocks (VRBs) are configured for relay physical downlink control channel transmission;
- determine a relay physical control channel assignment, wherein the relay physical control channel comprises at least one VRB numbered with a value based on N;
- and
- decode a corresponding physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in the same subframe.
