Abstract
Optimized location information is provided for a location based service. An event is detected which is indicative of an error in the location based service which degrades the performance of the location based service. A cause of the error is determined, and resolution of the error is initiated based on the determined cause.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- monitoring, by a server comprising a processor, a mobile communication device to detect a modification made by a user of the mobile communication device to a map provided, via the mobile communication device, to the user by a location based service executing on the mobile communication device, wherein the user of the mobile communication device makes the modification to the map via user input to the mobile communication device;
- detecting, by the server, based at least in part on detection of the modification made by the user of the mobile communication device, a first event indicative of an error in location information experienced by the mobile communication device;
- and
- in response to detecting the first event indicative of the error in the location information, initiating, by the server, resolution of the error in the location information, wherein an amount of time taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information is based, at least in part, on a status of the mobile communication device, wherein a first amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is stationary and not executing any location based applications, and wherein a second amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is moving and is executing one of the location based applications.
1 more element
A non-transitory computer readable storage device having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor of a server, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- monitoring a mobile communication device to detect a modification made by a user of the mobile communication device to a map provided, via the mobile communication device, to the user by a location based service executing on the mobile communication device, wherein the user of the mobile communication device makes the modification to the map via user input to the mobile communication device;
- detecting, based at least in part on detection of the modification made by the user of the mobile communication device, a first event indicative of an error in location information experienced by the mobile communication device;
- and
- in response to detecting the first event indicative of the error in the location information, initiating resolution of the error in the location information, wherein an amount of time taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information is based, at least in part, on a status of the mobile communication device, wherein a first amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is stationary and not executing any location based applications, and wherein a second amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is moving and is executing one of the location based applications.
1 more element
A server comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising monitoring a mobile communication device to detect a modification made by a user of the mobile communication device to a map provided, via the mobile communication device, to the user by a location based service executing on the mobile communication device, wherein the user of the mobile communication device makes the modification to the map via user input to the mobile communication device, detecting, based at least in part on detection of the modification made by the user of the mobile communication device, a first event indicative of an error in location information experienced by the mobile communication device, and in response to detecting the first event indicative of the error in the location information, initiating resolution of the error in the location information, wherein an amount of time taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information is based, at least in part, on a status of the mobile communication device, wherein a first amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is stationary and not executing any location based applications, and wherein a second amount of time is taken to initiate resolution of the error in the location information based on a determination that the status of the mobile communication device indicates that the mobile communication device is moving and is executing one of the location based applications
