Image capturing apparatus and method of controlling same

A control method of an image capturing apparatus having image capturing unit and capable of being remotely controlled from an external apparatus, the method comprising:

• receiving a control instruction from the external apparatus which is connected via a communication unit;
• controlling the image capturing apparatus based on the received control instruction;
• and
• when a connection with the external apparatus by the communication unit is disconnected during moving image recording in accordance with remote control from the external apparatus, continuing the moving image recording and notifying a user whether to stop the moving image recording.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an image capturing apparatus capable of being remotely controlled from an external apparatus, comprising:

• an image capturing unit;
• a communication unit configured to communicate with the external apparatus;
• a reception unit configured to receive a control instruction from the external apparatus via the communication unit;
• and
• a control unit configured to control the image capturing apparatus based on the received control instruction,
• wherein, when a connection with the external apparatus by the communication unit is disconnected during moving image recording in accordance with remote control from the external apparatus, the control unit continues the moving image recording and notifies a user whether to stop the moving image recording.
