System and method for providing users feedback regarding their reading habits

A method comprising:

• providing, by a processor over a network, a plurality of content items to a user at a user device;
• recording, by the processor, a quantity, a frequency, and categories associated with content of the plurality of content items consumed by the user;
• determining, by the processor, a reading habit score of the user based on the recorded quantity, frequency, and categories;
• and
• determining, by the processor, if each component of the reading habit score meets a respective threshold criteria:
• if all threshold criteria are met, terminating, by the processor, the method;
• if at least one component of the reading habit score does not meet the respective threshold criteria,
• identifying, by the processor, the at least one component that does not meet the respective threshold criteria;
• generating, by the processor, based on the identification and the determined reading habit score, recommendations to the user to improve the reading habit score;
• and
• providing, by the processor over the network, the generated recommendations to the user.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• a storage medium for tangibly storing thereon program logic for execution by the processor, the program logic comprising:
• content providing logic executed by the processor for providing, over a network, a plurality of content items to a user at a user device;
• recording logic executed by the processor for recording a quantity, a frequency, and categories associated with content of the plurality of content items consumed by the user;
• score determination logic executed by the processor for determining a reading habit score of the user based on the recorded quantity, frequency, and categories;
• and
• criteria determination logic executed by the processor for determining if each component of the reading habit score meets a respective threshold criteria:
• if all threshold criteria are met, terminating logic executed by the processor for terminating the method;
• if at least one component of the reading habit score does not meet the respective threshold criteria,
• component identification logic executed by the processor for identifying the at least one component that does not meet the respective threshold criteria;
• and
• generating logic executed by the processor for generating based on the identification and the determined reading habit score, recommendations to the user to improve the reading habit score;
• and
• recommendation providing logic executed by the processor for providing, over the network, the generated recommendations to the user.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium, comprising instructions, which when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• provide, over a network, a plurality of content items to a user at a user device;
• record a quantity, a frequency, and categories associated with content of the plurality of content items consumed by the user;
• determine a reading habit score of the user based on the recorded quantity, frequency, and categories;
• and
• determine if each component of the reading habit score meets a respective threshold criteria:
• if all threshold criteria are met, terminate the method;
• if at least one component of the reading habit score does not meet the respective threshold criteria,
• identify the at least one component that does not meet the respective threshold criteria;
• and
• generate based on the identification and the determined reading habit score, recommendations to the user to improve the reading habit score;
• and
• provide, over the network, the generated recommendations to the user.
