Network graphing selector

A computing system comprising:

• a logic machine;
• a storage machine holding instructions executable by the logic machine to:
• access data defining a network and including a plurality of vertices and a plurality of edges;
• locally render a network graph with a scalable vector graphics rendering engine of the computing system and display the network graph rendered by the scalable vector graphics rendering engine via a web browser of the computing system if a number of vertices included in the network graph is below a first threshold;
• locally render a network graph with a raster rendering engine of the computing system and display the network graph rendered by the raster rendering engine via the web browser if a number of vertices included in the network graph is between the first threshold and a second, higher, threshold;
• and
• receive a remotely-rendered network graph rendered by a remote rendering engine and display the remotely-rendered network graph via the web browser if a number of vertices included in the network graph is above the second threshold.

A method of displaying a network graph with a computing system, comprising:

• accessing data defining a network and including a plurality of elements;
• locally rendering a network graph with a scalable vector graphics rendering engine of the computing system and displaying the network graph rendered by the scalable vector graphics rendering engine via a web browser of the computing system if a number of elements included in the network graph is below a first threshold;
• locally rendering a network graph with a raster rendering engine of the computing system and displaying the network graph rendered by the raster rendering engine via the web browser if a number of elements included in the network graph is between the first threshold and a second, higher, threshold;
• and
• receiving, at the computing system, a remotely-rendered network graph rendered by a remote rendering engine and displaying the remotely-rendered network graph via the web browser if a number of elements included in the network graph is above the second threshold.
