Image supply apparatus, information processing apparatus, control method thereof, and storage medium

An information processing apparatus that communicates with an image supply apparatus functioning as a server, and acquires an image from the image supply apparatus, comprising:

• a communication unit that performs communication using a request/response communication protocol;
• a processing unit that sends, in response to communication with the image supply apparatus being started by the communication unit, a predetermined request for selecting an image to be sent in the image supply apparatus via the communication unit, and displays a menu including items selectable by a user;
• a first acquisition unit, wherein, when a response to the predetermined request is received from the image supply apparatus without a selection made by the user for an item in the menu displayed by the processing unit, the first acquisition unit acquires an image selected by the user in the image supply apparatus by making a request for requesting an image to the image supply apparatus via the communication unit by using information specifying the image included in the response and performing processing for receiving the image;
• a second acquisition unit, wherein, when a predetermined item in the menu displayed by the processing unit is selected without a response from the image supply apparatus for the predetermined request,
• the second acquisition unit
• requests and receives information representing a list of images included in the image supply apparatus,
• requests and receives a thumbnail of each of the images based on the information,
• displays a user interface for enabling each of the thumbnails to be selected by a user, and
• acquires an image selected by the user by making a sending request for an image corresponding to the selected thumbnail and receiving the image.

A control method of an image supply apparatus that includes:

• a storage unit that stores an image;
• and a communication unit that performs communication using a request/response communication protocol, and sends an image in response to a request from a client, the method comprising:
• executing processing for returning a response via the communication unit by performing processing in accordance with a type of a request received from a client via the communication unit,
• wherein in the executing,
• when a predetermined request is received, a list of images stored in the storage unit is displayed as a user interface selectable by a user, before sending a response to the predetermined request,
• when the user selects an image via the user interface, information specifying the selected image is generated in order to enable the client to make a sending request for the selected image, and
• the generated information is sent to the client as a response to the predetermined request.

A control method of an information processing apparatus that includes a communication unit that performs communication using a request/response communication protocol, communicates with an image supply apparatus that functions as a server, and acquires an image from the image supply apparatus, the method comprising:

• executing, in response to communication with the image supply apparatus being started by the communication unit, processing for sending, via the communication unit, a predetermined request for selecting an image to be sent in the image supply apparatus, and displaying a menu including items selectable by a user;
• acquiring, when a response to the predetermined request is received from the image supply apparatus without a selection of an item in the displayed menu by the user, an image selected by the user in the image supply apparatus by making a request for an image to the image supply apparatus via the communication unit by using information specifying an image included in the response and performing processing for receiving the image;
• when a predetermined item in the menu displayed in the executing is selected without a response from the image supply apparatus to the predetermined request,
• requesting and receiving information representing a list of images included in the image supply apparatus;
• requesting and receiving a thumbnail of each of the images based on the information;
• displaying a user interface for enabling the user to select each of the thumbnails;
• and
• acquiring an image selected by the user by making a sending request for an image corresponding to the selected thumbnail and receiving the image.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute steps of a method for sending an image in accordance with a request from a client by the computer reading and executing the program, the computer including a storage unit that stores an image and a communication unit that performs communication using a request/response communication protocol, the method comprising:

• executing processing for returning a response via the communication unit by performing processing in accordance with a type of a request received from a client via the communication unit,
• wherein in the executing,
• when a predetermined request is received, a list of images stored in the storage unit is displayed as a user interface selectable by a user, before sending a response to the predetermined request,
• when the user selects an image via the user interface, information specifying the selected image is generated in order to enable the client to make a sending request for the selected image, and
• the generated information is sent to the client as a response to the predetermined request.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute steps of a method for acquiring an image from the image supply apparatus by communicating with an image supply apparatus functioning as a server by the computer reading and executing the program, the computer including a communication unit that performs communication using a request/response communication protocol, the method comprising:

• executing, in response to communication with the image supply apparatus being started by the communication unit, processing for sending, via the communication unit, a predetermined request for selecting an image to be sent in the image supply apparatus, and displaying a menu including items selectable by a user;
• acquiring, when a response to the predetermined request is received from the image supply apparatus without a selection of an item in the displayed menu by the user, an image selected by the user in the image supply apparatus by making a request for an image to the image supply apparatus via the communication unit by using information specifying an image included in the response and performing processing for receiving the image;
• when a predetermined item in the menu displayed in the executing is selected without a response from the image supply apparatus to the predetermined request,
• requesting and receiving information representing a list of images included in the image supply apparatus;
• requesting and receiving a thumbnail of each of the images based on the information;
• displaying a user interface for enabling the user to select each of the thumbnails;
• and
• acquiring an image selected by the user by making a sending request for an image corresponding to the selected thumbnail and receiving the image.
