Conditional debugging of server-side production code

A computer-readable medium bearing computer-executable instructions which, when executed on a computer comprising at least a processor, carry out a method for processing a breakpoint, the method comprising, upon encountering a first breakpoint location corresponding to a first breakpoint during execution of a target program:

• testing whether a set of execution context conditions associated with the encountered first breakpoint is satisfied;
• and
• upon determining that the set of conditions are satisfied:
• executing instructions to generate a snapshot of debugging information of the target program at the encountered breakpoint location;
• and
• processing the generated snapshot for debugging purposes of the target program.

A computer device for processing breakpoint requests, the system comprising a processor and a memory, wherein the processor executes instructions stored in the memory as part of or in conjunction with one or more additional executable components that, in execution, configure the computer device to:

• receive breakpoint information from a computer user in regard to an execution location in an executing target program to set a first breakpoint in the target program;
• set the first breakpoint at the execution location, wherein setting the first breakpoint at the execution location comprises:
• set the first breakpoint in a manner that that does not block execution of the target program upon triggering the first breakpoint;
• and
• include executable instructions in the target program to generate a snapshot of debugger information regarding the target program upon the first breakpoint triggering;
• receive a snapshot of debugging information in regard to the triggering of the first breakpoint;
• and
• provide the snapshot of debugging information to the computer user.
