Abstract
Some embodiments of the invention are directed to an audio production system which is more portable, less expensive, faster to set up, and simpler and easier to use than conventional audio production tools. An audio production system implemented in accordance with some embodiments of the invention may therefore be more accessible to the typical user, and easier and more enjoyable to use, than conventional audio production tools.
Claims24
A method for use with a device, the method comprising acts of:
- (A) accessing data representing recorded audio, the recorded audio having gain and pan attributes;
- (B) causing the device to present a graphical user interface defining an X-Y coordinate system on which a cursor representing the recorded audio is positioned, the X-coordinate for the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system corresponding to one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio, the Y-coordinate for the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system corresponding to the other of the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio, the graphical user interface enabling a user to simultaneously modify both the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio by providing input to the screen to reposition the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system;
- (C) receiving an input via the graphical user interface to reposition the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system;
- (D) modifying at least one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute of the recorded audio in accordance with the input received in the act (C);
- and
- (E) causing playback of the recorded audio using the at least one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute modified in the act (D).
At least one computer-readable storage medium having instructions encoded thereon which, when executed by at least one computer processor, cause the at least one computer processor to perform a method comprising acts of:
- (A) accessing data representing recorded audio, the recorded audio having gain and pan attributes;
- (B) causing a device to present a graphical user interface defining an X-Y coordinate system on which a cursor representing the recorded audio is positioned, the X-coordinate for the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system corresponding to one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio, the Y-coordinate for the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system corresponding to the other of the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio, the graphical user interface enabling a user to simultaneously modify both the gain attribute and the pan attribute for the recorded audio by providing input to the screen to reposition the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system;
- (C) receiving an input via the graphical user interface to reposition the cursor within the X-Y coordinate system;
- (D) modifying at least one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute of the recorded audio in accordance with the input received in the act (C);
- and
- (E) causing playback of the recorded audio using the at least one of the gain attribute and the pan attribute modified in the act (D).
