Memory system and controlling method

A controlling method of a memory system comprising a nonvolatile memory including a first storage area and a second storage area, the second storage area being a spare area in a storage area of the nonvolatile memory, the method comprising:

• starting to control throttling based on a status of the second storage area in accordance with a command conforming to a certain interface standard and related to a setting of the memory system from a host device, the throttling limiting the number of times of accesses per unit time to the nonvolatile memory;
• and
• stopping the throttling after a certain time period has elapsed.

A controlling method of a memory system comprising a nonvolatile memory including a first storage area and a second storage area, the second storage area being a spare area in a storage area of the nonvolatile memory, the method comprising:

• controlling throttling based on a status of the second storage area during a time period that has elapsed since the memory system started being used, the throttling limiting the number of times of accesses per unit time to the nonvolatile memory;
• and
• stopping the throttling after the time period has elapsed.
