The invention relates to a method for calibrating a sensor (3) of a motor vehicle (1), in which, while the motor vehicle (1) is moved relative to an object (8), a reception signal is received continuously in each case by means of a computing device (7) from two reception devices (9, 9′) of the sensor (3), said reception signal describing a sensor signal that is emitted by the sensor (3) and reflected at the object (8), a measurement angle (α) between the sensor (3) and the object (8) is determined on the basis of a phase difference (Δφ) between the reception signals and a relative orientation between the sensor (3) and the object (8) is determined continuously on the basis of the reception signals, wherein a reference time (t0), at which the relative orientation corresponds to a predetermined reference orientation for which a reference angle (β) between the sensor (3) and the object (8) is known, is determined by means of the computing device (7), the measurement angle (α) is determined for the reference time (t0) and the sensor (3) is calibrated on the basis of a comparison between the measurement angle (α) for the reference time (t0) and the reference angle (β).
