Method, system and a computer program product for managing the operation of a wireless access point

A management system comprising at least one access point, wherein the access point operates on at least one of a plurality of available operating channels, the system comprising:

• an obtaining unit configured for obtaining signal strength parameters, which are representative for signal strengths which are detected by said access point at more than one of said plurality of available operating channels;
• an estimating unit configured for estimating, based on said signal strength parameters, interference levels related to said more than one of said plurality of available operating channels;
• and
• a selecting unit configured for selecting from said more than one of said plurality of available operating channels, based on said interference levels, an operating channel exhibiting a lowest interference level.
