Signaling camera configuration changes using metadata defined for a camera command set

A system comprising:

• a control data bus;
• an image data link;
• an imaging device coupled to the control data bus and to the image data link;
• and
• an application processor coupled to the control data bus and to the image data link, wherein the application processor is configured to:
• receive a first data frame from an image data communication link, the first data frame including image data and embedded metadata associated with the image data;
• determine that a reconfiguration of the imaging device has occurred when a signal parameter in the embedded metadata has been modified, wherein the signal parameter is included in an element of the metadata that is associated with a feature of the imaging device unaffected by the reconfiguration of the imaging device;
• and
• decode the image data in the first data frame in accordance with the reconfiguration of the imaging device.

An apparatus comprising:

• means for receiving a first data frame from an image data communication link, the first data frame including image data and embedded metadata associated with the image data:
• means for determining that a reconfiguration of an imaging device has occurred when a signal parameter in the embedded metadata has been modified, wherein the signal parameter is included in an element of the metadata that is associated with a feature of the imaging device unaffected by the reconfiguration of the imaging device;
• and
• means for decoding the image data in the first data frame in accordance with the reconfiguration of the imaging device.

A processor-readable storage medium having one or more instructions which, when executed by at least one processor of a processing circuit, cause the processing circuit to:

• receive a first data frame from an image data communication link, the first data frame including image data and embedded metadata associated with the image data;
• determine that a reconfiguration of an imaging device has occurred when a signal parameter in the embedded metadata has been modified, wherein the signal parameter is included in an element of the metadata that is associated with a feature of the imaging device unaffected by the reconfiguration of the imaging device;
• and
• decode the image data in the first data frame in accordance with the reconfiguration of the imaging device.
