Apparatus for receiving broadcast signals and method for receiving broadcast signals

An apparatus for receiving broadcast signals, the apparatus comprising:

• a tuner to receive the broadcast signals having Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) symbols including at least one preamble OFDM symbol and at least one data OFDM symbol on which power normalization is performed by using power normalization factors acquired from a frequency domain total power for the OFDM symbols;
• a demodulator to demodulate the at least one preamble OFDM symbol and the at least one data OFDM symbol into at least one preamble symbol and at least one data symbol by an OFDM scheme;
• a frame parser to parse at least one signal frame including the at least one preamble symbol for signaling data and the at least one data symbol for service data;
• a first decoder to decode the signaling data;
• and
• a second decoder to decode the service data,
• wherein at least one first power normalization factor applied to the at least one preamble OFDM symbol is different from at least one second power normalization factor applied to the at least one data OFDM symbol, and
• wherein the frequency domain total power of the at least one preamble OFDM symbol is set to 7985.96 when a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size is 8K points, a guard interval length is 1536 samples of the at least one preamble OFDM symbol, separation of scattered pilot bearing carriers is 4 carriers and carrier reduction (Cred) coefficient is 1 for the at least one preamble OFDM symbol.
