Technique for Routing and Switching Redundancy

A device for routing datagrams between customer equipments (CEs) and a pool of broadband network gateways (BNGs) the device comprising:

• processing circuitry;
• memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the device is operative to:
• trigger establishing a first connection between the device and each of the CEs;
• trigger establishing a second connection between the device and each BNG in the pool of BNGs;
• and
• map each of the first connections to one of the second connections, the mapping specifying the routing of the datagrams.

A method of routing datagrams between customer equipments (CEs) and a pool of broadband network gateways (BNGs), the method comprising:

• triggering establishing a first connection between the device and each of the CEs;
• triggering establishing a second connection between the device and each BNG in the pool of BNGs;
• and
• mapping each of the first connections to one of the second connections, the mapping specifying the routing of the datagrams.

A non-transitory computer readable recording medium storing a computer program product for routing datagrams between customer equipments (CEs) and a pool of broadband network gateways (BNGs), the computer program product comprising software instructions which, when run on processing circuitry of a computing device, causes the computing device to:

• trigger establishing a first connection between the device and each of the CEs;
• trigger establishing a second connection between the device and each BNG in the pool of BNGs;
• and
• map each of the first connections to one of the second connections, the mapping specifying the routing of the datagrams.
