Abstract
There is provided a fastener device and methods of using a fastener device, the device comprising a body having a first end comprising a supporting portion adapted to support at least a rear surface of a connector plug and a second opposite end comprising a latching portion adapted to engage at least a rear surface of a socket when the connector plug is inserted into the socket.
Claims15
A fastener device comprising:
- a body having a first end comprising a supporting portion adapted to support at least a rear surface of a connector plug and a second opposite end comprising a latching portion adapted to engage at least a rear surface of a socket when the connector plug is inserted into the socket.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the latching portion further comprises a lip.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the fastener device is plastic.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the latching portion is arranged to be disengaged when lifted from the socket.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the body further comprises a half cage to allow the fastener device to be placed over a cable connector.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the latching portion is further adapted not to engage the at least a rear surface of the socket when the connector plug is not correctly inserted into the socket.
The fastener device of any preceding claim, wherein the latching portion is further adapted to engage the at least a rear surface of a socket when the connector plug is inserted into the socket when a downward force is applied to the latching portion.
A connector system comprising:
- a connector plug;
- a socket mounted on a circuit board;
- and
- a fastener device comprising a support portion adapted to support at least a rear surface of the connector plug, the fastener device further comprising a latching portion configured to engage at least a rear surface of the socket when the connector plug is inserted into the socket.
A method of securing a plug-socket connection, the method comprising:
- providing a fastener device having a supporting portion adapted to support at least a rear end of a connector plug;
- placing the fastener device over a connector plug such that the supporting portion supports at least a rear end of the connector plug;
- inserting the connector plug into a socket;
- and
- applying a force towards the socket to a latching portion of the fastener device, the latching portion adapted to engage at least a rear surface of a socket when the connector plug is inserted into the socket
