Image display apparatus and method of controlling the same

A display apparatus comprising:

• a display;
• a communication unit configured to communicate with an external device;
• and
• a controller, in response to receiving a control signal from the external device, configured to activate a speech recognition,
• wherein when an audio input is not received during a first predetermined time after activating the speech recognition, the controller is configured to deactivate the speech recognition after the first predetermined time is elapsed since the speech recognition is activated, and
• when the audio input is received during the first predetermined time after activating the speech recognition, the controller is configured to deactivate the speech recognition after a second predetermined time is elapsed since the speech recognition is activated.
