Abstract
A method is described comprising: applying a random pattern to specified regions of an object; tracking the movement of the random pattern during a motion capture session; and generating motion data representing the movement of the object using the tracked movement of the random pattern.
Claims32
A method comprising:
- displaying successive frames of a 3D animation on a display device wherein visible features of a 3D animated object are moved relative to the motion of a random pattern on the surface of a physical object.
A method comprising:
- communicating motion data to a display device,
- wherein the motion data results in the displayed motion of an animated face such that the displayed motion is relative to the motion of a random pattern applied to the surface of a performer's face.
A system comprising:
- a display device wherein visible features of a 3D animated object are moved relative to the motion of a random pattern on the surface of a physical object.
A system comprising:
- a means to communicate motion data to a display device,
- wherein the motion data results in the displayed motion of an animated face such that the displayed motion is relative to the motion of a random pattern applied to the surface of a performer's face.
A method comprising:
- applying a random pattern of material to specified regions of a performer's face;
- the performer moving his or her face as a three-dimensional reference for a computer-generated face;
- capturing the motion of some or all of the random pattern by a plurality of cameras.
A system comprising:
- a performer with a random pattern of material applied to specified regions of his or her face;
- a plurality of cameras capturing the motion of some or all of the random pattern;
- the performer moving his or her face as a three-dimensional reference for a computer-generated face.
