Authenticated access to manageability hardware components

A system comprising:

• a set of manageability hardware components connected to an Operative System (OS) kernel of a computing device, each of the manageability hardware components comprising a bus configuration space to connect with the OS kernel and the bus configuration space comprising memory map registers;
• a boot firmware engine of the computing device to enumerate manageability hardware components, encode an address stored in a the memory map register of each of the enumerated manageability hardware components to produce an encoded address, lock the bus configuration space of each manageability hardware component by setting a read-only attribute to the bus configuration space, and in response to a request for access of an authenticated OS component to a particular enumerated manageability hardware component, reprogram the memory map register of the particular enumerated manageability hardware component with an accessible address;
• and,
• an exception handler engine to generate an exception signal in response to a writing operation of an unauthorized OS component attempting to access to one of the memory map registers with encoded addresses.

An article comprising at least one non-transitory machine readable storage medium comprising instructions executable by a processing resource of a boot firmware engine of a computing device to:

• enumerate a set of manageability hardware components connected to an operative system kernel of the computing device, each of the manageability hardware components comprising a bus configuration space to connect with the operative system kernel and the bus configuration space comprising memory map registers;
• encode an address stored in a memory map register of each of the enumerated manageability hardware components to produce an encoded address;
• lock the bus configuration space of each of the enumerated manageability hardware components by setting a read-only attribute to the bus configuration space;
• in response to a request for access of an authenticated OS component to a particular enumerated manageability hardware component, reprogram the memory map register of the particular enumerated manageability hardware component with an accessible address;
• and,
• relock the bus configuration space of the particular enumerated manageability hardware component by setting a read-only attribute to the bus configuration pace.
