Networked device with suggested response to incoming message

An apparatus for determining a response to an incoming message, comprising:

• one or more hardware processors, the hardware processors configured to:
• receive, for a first user, the incoming message from a second user,
• determine an emotional state associated with the incoming message,
• determine a target emotional state for the second user,
• identify the response to the second user based on the target emotional state, and
• write data derived from response to an output device.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that when executed, cause an electronic hardware processor to perform a method of determining a response to an incoming message, the method comprising:

• receiving, by a first electronic device for a first user, the incoming message from a second user;
• determining an emotional state associated with the incoming message;
• determining a target emotional state for the second user;
• identifying the response to the second user based on the target emotional state;
• and
• writing data derived from the response to an output device.
