Abstract
Provided are techniques for system testing using time compression. A first program and a second program of a workload are executed in accordance with a test clock, wherein the test clock is independent of a computer system clock, and wherein the first program and the second program are to be run in a specified sequence and each at a specified date and time. In response to the first program completing, the test clock is dynamically updated to the specified date and time of the second program to start execution of the second program.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- executing, using a processor of a computer, a first program and a second program of a workload in accordance with a test clock, wherein the test clock is independent of a computer system clock, and wherein the first program and the second program are to be run in a specified sequence and each at a specified date and time;
- and
- in response to the first program completing, dynamically updating the test clock to the specified date and time of the second program to start execution of the second program.
A computer program product, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program code embodied therewith, the program code executable by at least one processor to perform:
- executing a first program and a second program of a workload in accordance with a test clock, wherein the test clock is independent of a computer system clock, and wherein the first program and the second program are to be run in a specified sequence and each at a specified date and time;
- and
- in response to the first program completing, dynamically updating the test clock to the specified date and time of the second program to start execution of the second program.
A computer system, comprising:
- one or more processors, one or more computer-readable memories and one or more computer-readable, tangible storage devices;
- and
- program instructions, stored on at least one of the one or more computer-readable, tangible storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, to perform operations comprising:
- executing a first program and a second program of a workload in accordance with a test clock, wherein the test clock is independent of a computer system clock, and wherein the first program and the second program are to be run in a specified sequence and each at a specified date and time;
- and
- in response to the first program completing, dynamically updating the test clock to the specified date and time of the second program to start execution of the second program.
