Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a developing device configured to develop an electrostatic latent image with a liquid developer containing toner and a liquid carrier; a carrier storing container configured to store the carrier; a mixer configured to mix the toner and the carrier to form the liquid developer to be supplied to the developing device, wherein the liquid developer has a predetermined toner ratio; a first discharging portion provided on the carrier storing container and configured to discharge the carrier toward the mixer; a collecting mechanism configured to collect the carrier from the developing device into the carrier storing container; and a second discharging portion provided on the carrier storing container and configured to discharge the carrier toward a carrier collecting container configured to collect the carrier, wherein the carrier collecting container is detachably mountable to the carrier storing container.
