Provided are a device and method for data projection, in particular for windshields. A holographic element (11) is used here, in particular an imaging holographic element.

A device for data projection, comprising:
- a holographic element be arranged by a carrier, and
- an imaging device which is adapted and arranged to transmit light, corresponding to data to be projected, to the holographic element, wherein the holographic element is adapted to direct light received by the imaging device to a viewing site.
A use of a holographic element in a windshield for the protection against laser pointers.
