Abstract
The invention relates to devices, systems, and methods for temperature regulation in generating peritoneal dialysate and using a peritoneal dialysis (PD) system. The system can use a heater and temperature sensors to regulate the temperature of fluid within the PD system.
Claims20
A temperature regulation system for use in peritoneal dialysis, comprising:
- a first fluid line fluidly connected to a dialysate generation system;
- the first fluid line including a heater and a first temperature sensor positioned downstream of the heater;
- the first fluid line fluidly connectable to an integrated cycler through a second fluid line having a second temperature sensor;
- a control system in communication with the first temperature sensor, the second temperature sensor, and the heater;
- the control system controlling the heater based on a temperature measured by the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor.
2 more elements
A method, comprising the steps of:
- a) generating a peritoneal dialysate with a peritoneal dialysate generation system;
- b) pumping the peritoneal dialysate through a temperature regulation system;
- the temperature regulation system comprising at least a heater and a first temperature sensor;
- c) pumping the peritoneal dialysate into an integrated cycler through at least one fluid line;
- the at least one fluid line having a second temperature sensor;
- d) measuring a temperature of the peritoneal dialysate in the at least one fluid line;
- and
- e) heating the peritoneal dialysate with the heater to a desired temperature as measured by the first temperature sensor and/or the second temperature sensor.
5 more elements
A method of disinfecting a peritoneal dialysis system, comprising the steps of:
- a) fluidly connecting a disinfectant source to a first fluid line of a peritoneal dialysate generation system;
- wherein the peritoneal dialysate generation system is fluidly connected to a temperature regulation system and a second fluid line;
- the second fluid line fluidly connectable to an integrated cycler;
- b) fluidly connecting the first fluid line to the second fluid line;
- c) recirculating a disinfectant solution through the peritoneal dialysis system;
- d) measuring a temperature of the disinfectant solution in the peritoneal dialysis system;
- and
- e) heating the disinfectant solution to a desired temperature as measured by a first temperature sensor positioned in the first fluid line downstream of a heater and/or a second temperature sensor positioned in the second fluid line.
