Abstract
To facilitate removal of foreign matters from a preform. While a preform (1) in an inverted position with a mouth portion (2a) thereof facing down is being continuously transferred, filtered air is blasted into the preform (1) through the mouth portion (2a) of the preform (1), and at the same time, air is sucked from the side of the mouth portion (2a) of the preform (1). Foreign matters can be more easily discharged from the preform (1) because of the flow of air and the weight of the foreign matters.

A method of removing a foreign matter from a preform, wherein, while a preform in an inverted position with a mouth portion thereof facing down is being continuously transferred, filtered air is blasted into the preform through the mouth portion of the preform, and at the same time, air is sucked from the side of the mouth portion of the preform.
An apparatus for removing a foreign matter from a preform, comprising a conveying device that continuously transfers a preform in an inverted position with a mouth portion thereof facing down, a filtered air nozzle that blasts filtered air into the preform being transferred, and a suction port member having a chute-like shape that is arranged to surround the filtered air nozzle and sucks air that flows out of the preform being transferred.
