Aperiodic channel state information (csi) reporting for enhanced carrier aggregation

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program code,
• wherein the at least one memory and computer program code are configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus at least to
• transmit a configuration of at least two aperiodic channel state information reporting modes per at least one configured downlink component carrier to at least one user equipment;
• and
• transmit an aperiodic channel state information trigger to the at least one user equipment,
• wherein the transmitting of the aperiodic channel state information trigger causes the at least one user equipment to dynamically switch between the at least two configured aperiodic channel state information reporting modes.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program code,
• wherein the at least one memory and computer program code are configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus at least to
• receive a configuration of at least two aperiodic channel state information reporting modes per component carrier;
• receive an aperiodic channel state information trigger from a network node;
• and
• dynamically switch between the at least two configured aperiodic channel state information reporting modes based on the indication in the aperiodic channel state information trigger to produce an appropriate aperiodic channel state information report.

A method, comprising:

• receiving, by a user equipment, configuration of at least two aperiodic channel state information reporting modes per one or more configured downlink component carriers;
• receiving an aperiodic channel state information trigger from a network node;
• and
• dynamically switching between the at least two configured aperiodic channel state information reporting modes based on the indication in the aperiodic channel state information trigger to produce an appropriate aperiodic channel state information report.
