Abstract
Disclosed are a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding a high frequency for bandwidth extension. The method includes: estimating a weight; and generating a high frequency excitation signal by applying the weight between random noise and a decoded low frequency spectrum.
Claims3
A method of generating an excitation class, the method comprising:
- determining, based on a result of signal classification, whether a frame of an audio signal corresponds to a speech signal;
- generating a first excitation class information for the frame, in response that the frame corresponds to the speech signal;
- when the frame of the audio signal does not correspond to the speech signal, obtaining a tonal characteristic of the frame;
- and
- generating a second excitation class information for the frame by comparing the tonal characteristic with a threshold,
- wherein the first excitation class information indicates that an excitation class of the frame is a speech class, and
- wherein the second excitation class information indicates whether the excitation class of the frame is a first non-speech class or a second non-speech class.

A method of generating a high frequency excitation spectrum, the method comprising:
- decoding an excitation class of a frame from a bitstream including either a first excitation class information or a second excitation class information;
- decoding a low frequency spectrum from the bitstream;
- and
- generating the high frequency excitation spectrum from the decoded low frequency spectrum, based on the decoded excitation class,
- wherein the first excitation class information indicates that the excitation class of the frame is a speech class, and
- wherein the second excitation class information indicates whether the excitation class of the frame is a first non-speech class or a second non-speech class.
