Abstract
A facility for automated modelling of the cutting process for a particular material to be cut by a beam cutting tool, such as a waterjet cutting system, from empirical data to predict aspects of the waterjet's effect on the workpiece across a range of material thicknesses, across a range of cutting geometries, and across a range of cutting quality levels, all of which may be broader than, and independent of the actual requirements for a target workpiece, is described.

1-26. (canceled)
A computer-readable medium storing a cutting test observation data structure, the data structure comprising a plurality of entries, each entry corresponding to a cutting test performed using a waterjet cutting system, each entry comprising:
- (a) information identifying a material used in the cutting test;
- (b) information identifying a cutting test type of the cutting test;
- (c) information specifying a measurement produced by the cutting test;
- and
- (d) information specifying an authoritativeness weight attributed to the cutting test,
- such that the contents of the data structure are suitable for use to automatically construct a cutting model predicting the effect of operating a waterjet cutting system on a workpiece of a particular material.
46-167. (canceled)
A method in a computing system for supporting the maintenance of a waterjet cutting model, comprising:
- accessing delivery information for a user of a waterjet cutting model, the waterjet cutting model being based on a first set of cutting observations;
- and
- using the accessed delivery information to cause to be delivered to the user a second set of cutting test observations that is distinct from the first set of cutting observations, such that the second set of cutting observations can be used to automatically generate an updated waterjet cutting model for use by the user.
