Gas injector including an outwardly opening valve closure element

An internal combustion engine, comprising:

• a cylinder head;
• a gas injector situated directly on a combustion chamber and in the cylinder head, the gas injector for directly injecting a gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber, the gas injector including a valve closure element for releasing and closing a passage opening, the valve closure element opening in a direction of a flow direction of the gas injector, a sealing seat between the valve closure element and a valve body, and a flow-guiding element situated downstream of the sealing seat in the flow direction of the gas injector, and is configured to form a gas jet to be injected into the combustion chamber.
