View angle control apparatus and view angle control method

A view angle control apparatus comprising:

• a view angle change unit configured to change the angle of view of an image;
• an operating member configured to accept an operation of changing a setting of the angle of view;
• and
• a control unit configured to control the change of the angle of view by the view angle change unit, wherein
• the control unit performs first control of changing the angle of view from a first angle of view to a second angle of view that is by a preset amount to a wide-angle direction with respect to the first angle of view, in accordance with a first determination, performs second control of changing the angle of view to the first angle of view, in accordance with a second determination, after the first control, performs third control of changing the angle of view to a third angle of view determined in response to the operation upon an operation having been performed through the operating member between start of the first control and start of the second control, and performs the first control of changing the angle of view from the third angle of view to the first angle of view, in accordance with the second determination.

A view angle control method for controlling the angle of view of an image, the method comprising:

• performing first control of changing the angle of view from a first angle of view to a second angle of view that is by a predetermined amount to a wide-angle direction with respect to the first angle of view, in accordance with a first determination;
• performing second control of changing the angle of view to the first angle of view, in accordance with a second determination, after the first control;
• upon an operation of changing a setting related to the predetermined amount having been performed between start of the first control and start of the second control, changing the setting related to the predetermined amount in response to the operation;
• and
• upon the setting related to the predetermined amount having been changed, performing the second control after changing the setting related to the predetermined amount.
