Abstract
Embodiments of a method and a system for processing a radio frequency (RF) signal are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for processing an RF signal involves down-converting the RF signal into a converted signal, obtaining a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value based on an amplitude of the RF signal, and amplifying the converted signal based on the RSSI value.
Claims20
A method for processing a radio frequency (RF) signal, the method comprising:
- down-converting an RF signal into a converted signal using a down-converter;
- obtaining a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value based on an amplitude of the RF signal using an RSSI device;
- amplifying the converted signal based on the RSSI value using an amplifier;
- and
- freezing a gain of the amplifier if data reception is detected.

A system for processing a radio frequency (RF) signal, the system comprising:
- a down-converter configured to convert the RF signal into a converted signal;
- a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) device configured to obtain an RSSI value based on an amplitude of the RF signal;
- an amplifier configured to amplify the converted signal based on the RSSI value;
- and
- an amplifier control device configured to freeze a gain of the amplifier if data reception is detected.
2 more elements
A method for processing a radio frequency (RF) signal, the method comprising:
- down-converting the RF signal into a converted signal in a first signal path using a down-converter;
- obtaining a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value based on an amplitude of the RF signal in a second signal path that is in parallel with the first signal path using an RSSI device, wherein the RSSI value has a non-linear relationship with the amplitude of the RF signal;
- controlling a gain of an amplifier based on the RSSI value;
- amplifying the converted signal using the amplifier according to the gain in the second path;
- and
- freezing a gain of the amplifier if data reception is detected.
