Performing a channel state information measurement in an enhanced machine-type communication

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• means for receiving information associated with a number of channel state information (CSI) reference subframes to use in performing CSI measurements in a narrowband communication;
• means for monitoring subframes on at least two frequency channels, each of the at least two frequency channels including a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH);
• and
• means for performing a CSI measurement across the at least two frequency channels based on the information associated with the number of CSI reference subframes.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to:
• receive information associated with a number of channel state information (CSI) reference subframes to use in performing CSI measurements in a narrowband communication;
• monitor subframes on at least two frequency channels, each of the at least two frequency channels including a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH);
• and
• perform a CSI measurement across the at least two frequency channels based on the information associated with the number of CSI reference subframes.

A computer-readable medium storing computer executable code, comprising code to:

• receive information associated with a number of channel state information (CSI) reference subframes to use in performing CSI measurements in a narrowband communication;
• monitor subframes on at least two frequency channels, each of the at least two frequency channels including a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH);
• and
• perform a CSI measurement across the at least two frequency channels based on the information associated with the number of CSI reference subframes.
