Abstract
The present subject matter relates to client communication in multi-tenant data center networks. In an example implementation, a unicast packet comprises a status indicative of one of a forwarding table-match and a forwarding table-miss at a source tunnel end-point (TEP) in a multi-tenant data center network.
Claims15
A method of communication between clients in a multi-tenant data center network, the method comprising:
- receiving at a source tunnel end-point (TEP) a data packet of a source client for a target client;
- determining whether a forwarding table of the source TEP includes a forwarding table (FT) entry for the target client;
- transmitting a unicast packet with a status indicative of a forwarding table-match to a destination TEP when the FT entry for the target client is present in the forwarding table of the source TEP;
- and
- transmitting a unicast packet with a status indicative of a forwarding table-miss to all other TEPs when the FT entry for the target client is not present in the forwarding table of the source TEP.
A system for communication between clients in a multi-tenant data center network, the system comprising a tunnel end-point (TEP) to:
- receive, from a source TEP, a unicast packet with data of a source client for a target client, wherein the unicast packet comprises a status indicative of one of a forwarding table-match and a forwarding table-miss at the source TEP;
- and
- determine, based on the status, whether the unicast packet is for the forwarding table-match or the forwarding table-miss.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-readable instructions for communication between clients in a multi-tenant data center network, the computer-readable instructions are executable by a processor:
- receive at a tunnel end-point (TEP) a data packet of a source client for a target client;
- transmit a unicast packet to a destination TEP with a status indicative of a forwarding table-match when a forwarding table (FT) entry for the target client is present in a forwarding table of the TEP;
- and
- transmit a unicast packet to all other TEPs with a status indicative of a forwarding table-miss when the FT entry for the target client is not present in the forwarding table of the TEP.
